The Many Faces of Evelyn Joy

It is time to catch up on some pictures and news!

Some of the pictures are out of order, but they are mostly in order of oldest to newest. So the picture directly below was when she was just over two months old.

I love her in navy blue polka dots, and her frilly pink skirt! It is so much fun!

Oh, gosh, I love all of her expressions.

The picture above was, I believe on our trip to Gonzales. She did GREAT with all of the traveling. The hardest parts were the trips while visiting, just ten-fifteen minute drives from one place to the next. As soon as we buckled her in for our long journey, she cried until she started chewing on my finger. I can't remember the last time she took a pacifier, but it's been a couple months at least!

Above: Trying out the stroller like a big girl, with Mr. Bear.

Our first outing with her sitting up in her stroller. We walked down the street to a gas station for sodas. I love our neighborhood!

We took the above picture on the morning of our five year anniversary! It was certainly different from all previous anniversaries, but we were more blessed this year than ever before. As you can see, Evie is totally getting into the Saturday morning routine. I LOVE those owl pajamas! Special thanks to Summer Nichols for giving us so many cute clothes.

Above: Chief Papa-Haha with Princess Evening-of-Joy. ha ha. Actually, Papa named an unidentified flower in Mom's garden after Evie, calling it "Evening of Joy." I love that!

Above: Uncle Bear holding Evie on a lunch visit. We love his visits!

Evie in her new Winter hat. We came home on the first really cold day of the season and our heater wasn't working. Isn't she adorable?

Of course, she fell asleep in her Daddy's arms.

I can't get over her cuteness!

I took the above picture on a particularly fun day. Evie helped me around the house a lot (by being quiet and cute and happy) and we just had a great time.

I ventured to the park with her on my own for the first time in the above picture. We saw some ducks and met a little boy. She enjoyed it and I got a workout!

I love her smiles!

Lovely sleepy face.

A picture from the We-Love-Daddy Club.

I love her polka dots, and I guess it's our kind of camouflage. Ha!

We are LOVING her new bumbo that was given to us from our neighbors. We are so blessed!

She fell asleep in Lovie's arms at cousin Eli's birthday party. She loves lots of noise, music, and people talking. I should have taken pictures of Eli and London- they were adorable!!

Fell asleep on our way home from Shawnee.

She must have been having sweet dreams!

Lately, Evie has been waking up between six and seven a.m. ready for the day! In the above photo, she was watching the news with me. Very concerned about Obamacare.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE her in red and white. She looks so sweet and pure, and yet so bright and vibrant in those colors. These pictures don't do her justice at all.

Hee hee.

This girl loves to smile! :)

Last Sunday, I had just taken her into the nursing room at church, when she saw a little boy who had a toy. He pulled a lever on the toy and it made a noise as he held it up in front of Evie. She cracked up like I have never heard her laugh before! Over and over again she laughed at this sweet boy! It made me wish she had an older brother. I can't wait to make her laugh that hard myself. But we HAVE been hearing her laugh since about 12 weeks. It is so sweet!

I think that for me, the 3 month mark is when everything suddenly got easier. I guess that makes sense, since they call the first 3 months the fourth trimester. I am really able to enjoy her more and more everyday without being bogged down too much by the demands that come with motherhood. We still have hard days, of course, but even they are not as hard as they used to be. These days, Evie will hardly even play on her playmat anymore, because she always wants to be sitting up or trying to stand up. I'm hoping to get her to do more tummy time so she will learn to crawl, but we'll see how that goes. ha ha.

Two weeks ago, I think Evie was dealing with yet another growth spurt and teething at the same time. It was such a hard week! She napped for a total of 5 minutes all day long, and would wake up 2 or 3 times per night. It was brutal! She sleeps for 6 or 7 hours straight maybe once a week, so we are still trying to get her to sleep through the night.

We had one particularly crazy adventure in the backyard last week. I had just laid Evie down on a blanket in the grass and sat down myself, when I saw a huge spider on our blanket. I jumped up, but before I could pick Evie up, the spider crawled on her leg! I yanked her backwards by her arms and, fortunately, the spider (I later found out it was a wolf spider) scuttled away. Man, it really freaked me out, though.

In other news, her eyes are officially teal now! I can't wait to find out what they will be permanently, but I suppose that could be months away. I also can't wait for her to start really growing hair. :) I weighed her sometime last week and she was 16 pounds 12 ounces at 17 weeks old. This Friday she will be 4 months! Every new milestone is so exciting. These are truly special days.

I'll probably update again soon. I just wanted to get these pictures up at last. Thank you for your patience. :)
